Activities of Project YUI

Project YUI is a team of individuals, NPOs, companies, and governments.  We each bring various talents and resources, such as manpower, materials, funding, and knowledge, in order to support the creative reconstruction of the area affected by the earthquake on March 11th.

Our primary goal is to support the daily activities and special events of children and individuals in the community affected by the earthquake.  Our aim regarding daily activities is to provide a venue to support children’s play and learning experiences after school.  We also plan and organize special events to energize the individuals in the area affected by the earthquake.

Activity Guidelines

  1. We focus on education for children and put forth our best effort in ensuring quality learning opportunities for them.
  2. We provide the most appropriate support for the area affected by the earthquake through the unity of individuals, NPOs, companies, and governments where they can offer manpower, knowledge, and materials.
  3. We carefully assess and understand the changing condition of the individuals and reconstruction situation in the area affected by the earthquake by using our network of volunteers.  With this information, we can provide necessary support at the appropriate time.
  4. We support children’s daily learning and play, focusing on afternoon activities, through creating “Minna no ba (the Place for Everyone).”
  5. We plan and organize special events to energize the community based on its needs.
  6. We aim to develop a solid organizational system within three years that the community will be able to use for long-term reconstruction.

Daily support

The Implementation of “Minna no ba (the Place for Everyone)”

We provide “Minna no ba (the Place for Everyone)” by sending volunteers to the affected areas to reconstruct a place where children can learn and play.  The volunteers sent by our organization on a weekly basis bring ideas for education and play as well as the materials to support children’s studies and recreation.  This activity is primarily held in Ishinomaki City and is spreading to other areas.

Special events

Planning and Organizing Community Events

We organize special events and activities to energize children and individuals in the affected areas in accordance with the area’s reconstruction phase.  The administration of Project YUI collaborates with NPOs and companies that put together entertainment packages and send the project members to the area after assessing the demand of the community.
